:o

150 Shocktopuses later.... *opens level editor, removes spikes under starting position*.... I WIN!

...anyway, wow, that's a toughie. I made it to the 'zero' field button before having to call it quits (for now). Interestingly enough, the level did remind me that buttons (oddly) work from all side. I had a fix in place, but guess I removed it at some point and never noticed (since none of the buttons in the main game can be touched from the bottom). Fear not -- I won't change it! Though I might think of a way to make it look a little less strange...

I'm afraid I took longer than 150 ~TES~'s myself. Believe it or not, I tried to easy-ify it before posting. I got addicted to finishing it how it was like when I posted it, so I couldn't push myself to make any further changes. I've grown attached to that level, it seems like a game in of itself.

Ok, be ready, exfret, here my comment comes...
And I mean practically possible, not technically possible

I laughed a bit when I loaded this level as I read your comment a few minutes before. Especially that it did reminded me testing the right part of the "Nightmare for Tonight" in fact. I agree it's a hard level but... I just have to ask you a question... Did you wanted players to activate the second switch or not? Because I got through the level without activating it and the second part was much easier (I think) than the previous one so I thought maybe I actually was supposed to use it. What's more, not activating the switch, one can get the second and third stars almost easily.

All-in-all, I liked it. I guess I would use much more than 150 :Sh you're talking about if I wouldn't be able not to activate the second switch.

Switch? Do you mean button? You're talking about, oh wait, forgot to rename it again... Anyways, if the second button, then if you can get past it without activating it, then that's fine, but it should be pretty hard. In fact, that's how you're supposed to get the 2nd star. Also, I got past it 3 more times because it was so fun. I'll count how many shocktopusises I use this time...

Wow, I took less than twenty. In the beginning, all the shockto-deaths distracted me, so I probably got around 12-ish, but I don't know. I'll try again...

Okay, this time was more realistic: 97 Shocktopusises...

And I just did it while only killing 6... Personal Best!!!

I'm getting better at consistency: 13 Shocktopusises killed...

Now sum up the past two scores and you get my next score: 19. I seem to be getting worse...

THREE!!! I only killed 3 Shocktopusises before finishing the level!!!!! I wonder if I'll be able to do it again...

I did it: 4 Shocktopusises. Not as little as last time, but still...

I got off my game this time: 19 Shocktopusises died before I finished the level...

Eg... I finished it killing 30 Shocktopusises... a pyhrric victory...

15. I did better this time, but still not as good as I would like...

 . I got it w/ 89. That's what I get for wanting less than 15...

Okay, I got 9. I'm back on my game...

YES!!! 2 Shocktopusises!!!! I guess the above statement is correct...

Yep. Only 10 this time...

I got 11. Consistency!!! Anyways, I'm getting bored w/ this, and you're probably getting bored with reading, so I'll stop.

The True Definition of WTM:

Also, it appears the glitch placing ~TES~ in the top left corner has struck again. Please fix this Andy, and if you play this level, kindly place the shocktopus on the positive sandblock. Another glitch happens if you load more than a page full of levels.

A nice, simple level:

Code: Select all

I'm excited to give these levels a try!

As to the glitch, it's the way the game is actually set up right now. Two things can't be on the same spot - and both the door and Shocktopus are treated as foreground tiles. So if you put the door over the Shocktopus, he is displaced. The current method was to send him to the first open spot (generally in the top left corner). I'll change that, though, so that the game maybe tries the adjacent tiles first and works it's way out from there. That should solve the problem you're having.

A more immediate solution, though, is just to add the Shocktopus to whatever open tile you'd like.

Edit: GRRR!! MY LEVEL IS BROKEN!!!!! AFTER ALL THAT HARD WORK!!!!!!!! :x

Why would it have broken???? WHYYYYY!!!! This reminds me that you also have to fix the glitch where level codes don't like keeping Shocktopus in a place where there's also something else. So, basically, your level codes aren't working very well. :( And I spent a long time on that level!!! You better fix this!!!!! (I'm not mad, but I want to create another level like this to replace this one, and it might break too unless we figure out why the past one broke).

Edit: Hmmmm... I destroyed and placed back the flowing mag. fields, and it started working a bit again (still failed, but got much farther). I think this actually might have to do with recalculating the mag. and electric fields. This might be linked to the fact that it was doing something different the first time than all the other times.

Edit 2: Oh, and on a quite random note, could you make flowing magnetic fields that you can go through? The blocks get quite in the way.

Edit 3: Okay, super strange. I was making another of those levels w/ mag. fields, and the path of the Shocktopus depended on the spikes I was placing down. (They affected him from afar, not in a got-in-the-shocktopus'-way kind of thing). Also, go-through conductors would be great as well. Oh, and maybe go-through cannons. And maybe levertating levers.

Edit 1 to Edit 3: Wait, does that metal-like background act as a conductor? That might be the case.

Edit 4: MY INVISIBLE BLOCKS!!! I CAN'T MAKE THEM!!! Andy, you must allow me to not lose what block I'm losing when I change pages on the level editor box!!!! RESTORE THIS AT ONCE!!!!!!! :ugeek:

Edit 1 to Edit 4: Maybe they weren't broken... They seem to be working again...

Just got it in one, but I added a sandblock to the bottom and right of ~TES~ to make the level start less suddenly so that luck wouldn't be as big of a factor.
