Re: Simulating a solar sail

Hmm, the sim isn't designed with solar sails in mind, so I'm not exactly sure. It depends on what it would mean to simulate a solar sail. I think the closest you could get would be to build a solar system with just a star and your 'solar sail'. Then modify the force of gravity (in a way that would r...

Re: "I'm stuck on Level..."

Hmm, that's a tricky one. I suppose my tips here would revolve around practicing how to run onto that trap door. Get close, then start running toward it just before the door closes. That'll ensure you get the maximum time on it before it opens. And after you hit the fire block, do a quick run to the...

Re: How do I update?

Good question - the updating process isn't the clearest. You got the game through the Humble website - and that same place will be where you download the update. You can either: a) Log in to your Humble account here: https://www.humblebundle.com/ b) Find the email from Humble, which will have your o...

Discord Server

The community here on the forums has always been one of my favorite parts of TTG, and since I'm getting away from contract work a bit, and working on new projects, I'd like to try to renew that. So I set up a Discord for TestTubeGames -- if you're not 'in the know', that's basically a chat program, ...

Re: Saving at every time step

I love the idea -- I can't pull the name of the project, but I remember seeing some cool toys online for building music out of moving particles. Forget whether it had gravity wells, or the motion was different. But, yes, the frequencies with all the objects orbiting can make for some interesting stu...

Re: Density waves - Elliptical orbits?

I think that should be possible, yes. I can't speak to what the outcome would be exactly - from what I've read about spiral galaxies, the reason the arms exist is tied up in things like star formation, which we don't have in this sim. But I'd be interested to see what you get! I'll let you know when...

Re: How to include general relativity in the code?

That's just an example -- the default value is 30. Which seems to work well for the various masses and densities normally used in the sim. But it's interesting, too, to play around with it and see what happens. What if light were *really* slow, for instance. (hmm, no velocity raptor emoji, that's qu...

Re: "I'm stuck on Level..."

That is indeed a tricky one -- I think my main tips for 28 would be try to move *with* the bullets, as in, at roughly their same speed, while you pass through them. Also, pressing 'space' to stop instantly can be helpful to keep you from splashing into the water accidentally. Hope that helps!
