Reletivity seems to revert it to r^-2

Post by AlternateGravity »

I noticed that if I set the force law to r^-1 or r^-3 and then turn on relativity it produces nearly elliptical orbits even though without relativity it's only r^-2 that produces elliptical orbits.
Gravitons would be my favorite particle as their existence could prove extra dimensions.

The problem here is on my end -- not in the simulation but rather in a really confusingly-designed interface.

When you turn on relativity, it calculates with one concrete set of relativistic equations. It ignores whatever you've typed in the f(r) spot. So, no matter what is in f(r), the moment relativity is turned on, you'll see a world that is nearly r^-2 (since, after all, general relativity reduces to that for small masses or far distances).

I'll add that to the 'to change' list.
