Calling all Suggestions

Post by testtubegames »

There's a major update to the Gravity Simulator in the works. Not only will the game be playable on other platforms (like mobile devices and such), but I'm also looking to improve it.

I've gotten a lot of great suggestions so far, but I am always on the lookout for more. So, what is it you'd like to see in the new update? What feature does the current version lack?

I suppose we could add gravitational or effective potentials, to show things like Lagrange points.

Would be cool, but might slow down rendering a bit.
$1 = 100¢ = (10¢)^2 = ($0.10)^2 = $0.01 = 1¢ [1]

Showing off gravity wells is a neat idea. Even if it'd be too slow to render those *all* the time, maybe I could add it as a snapshot-thing. It's only an option when the world is paused, say.

I also really want to show off Lagrange points. Showing a snapshot of the wells would do that, for starters. Also, I suppose I'd need an option to change the camera's tracking. Instead of having a stationary camera, it would probably be helpful to have one that is rotating -- so the orbiting planet stays in place on the screen. That way you can really pay attention to what's going on, without trying to follow the lagrange points that are zipping around the screen.

General relativity?

Please?
Binomial Theorem: ((a+b)^n)= sum k=0->k=n((n!(a^(n-k))(b^k))/(k!(n-k)!))

What is a Lagrange point?

Is it just a mathematical description of newtonian gravity, or something different?

Basically a Lagrange point is a point where three objects can be immobile towards eachother in an orbit. For example, if I had Earth orbiting the Sun and the moon was in any of the Lagrange points(Except perhaps L3: Humankind is kind of bad at seeing through stars) it would look stationary relative to us.

Hahaha... no. You keep asking nicely, though.

Honestly, though, I do want to make a sim/game about General Relativity. It'll probably zap my brain worse than Velocity Raptor did, but it'd be so damn cool!
